Thanks for this, Peter.

Lovely tribute to Susan Alcorn. My wife and I love her work after seeing her a few times. I didn't know that she lived in Arlington Hts. in the 70s. The Vitali-inspired work on Soledad is a kind of Pavane that I'm considering to start out my radio show on the night of the 19th. Thanks for the intro to Fare too. The Chinese wrap-up has some folks I've been warming to lately.

Susan was a wonderful person and great player, but why in all of these articles about her is there no mention of the depth of the steel guitar tradition she reflects? Country music, when it comes to contemporary neo-jazz critics, is still an orphan. I won't even mention the slack key aspect, the acoustic steel guitar, the pioneer Bob Dunn. Susan would have been surprised at this lack of context.
